高雄的工業文化有長足歷史發展，加工出口區、石化工業、船業，都讓高雄的勞動文化更為豐沛。雖近年高雄已由工業轉型發展為以休閒觀光為主的海洋城市；但代表著台灣經濟起飛的勞動文化實為高雄歷史發展的軌跡，值得永續紀念。有鑑於此，市府勞工局規劃台灣唯一的勞工博物館以保存台灣的勞動文化，讓民眾可更加深入瞭解勞工朋友對土地的意義及價值。勞工博物館致力於與全國勞動議題相關的蒐藏、研究、保存和維護工作，並以具創意的互動性展示、教育活動、便民服務，來提供社會大眾及勞工朋友一個參與、互動、記憶與學習的空間，藉以凝聚社區意識、保存勞工文化。

Located on the banks of the Love River, the Kaohsiung Film Archive is the first organization in Southern Taiwan to develop visual art and culture over a long period.The Kaohsiung Film Archive is run as a “Citizens’ Cinema,” hosting film-related activities throughout the year. From time to time, the archive holds free screenings of art films, giving citizens choices outside mainstream cinema. The Kaohsiung Film Festival and South Taiwan Festival organized by the archive have strong reputations. One of the themes of the 2009 Kaohsiung Film Festival was “people power,” and films were shown on the struggle for human rights and freedom and resistance against the hegemony of the state and society. Despite intense political pressure, the Kaohsiung Film Archive screened “The 10 Conditions of Love,” a documentary on exiled Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer, at the festival, attracting a great deal of attention.

Transportation information:Take the No. 2 or 88 bus to Yanchengpu and walk to the museum; take the Kaohsiung MRT to Yanchengpu Station (O2) and follow Dayong Rd. where you will arrive at the Kaohsiung Museum of Labor Pier-2 Art Center.
